Business Development Manager - Mid-Atlantic Territory

We are looking for a Business Development Manager in the Mid-Atlantic Territory. You MUST live in Maryland, Virginia, or West Virginia. You would be required to travel to our headquarters in Warsaw, NY approximately 2-5 times per year.

POSITION OVERVIEW

  • Reports to: Vice President of Sales
  • Area of operation includes the Mid-Atlantic Region (Maryland, Delaware, Virginia, West Virginia, parts of Pennsylvania)

This consultative business development role requires someone who has proven strategic expertise in establishing relationships with Decision Influencers for our products through our dealer network. Individual will increase sales within the territory by building brand awareness for our architectural products.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Develop channel and pro trade contractor partners who will effectively cover all market segments within geography and increase Upstate Door’s market share.
  • Implement strategic sales plans; develop territory budget and sales forecasts
  • Develop channel partner sales team, pro trade contractors and architects through various training, which includes market segment training and focus, sales support, technological interface tools, sales training, and product knowledge training
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with decision influencers through use of creative problem solving, accurate information, and timely responses
  • Regularly analyze effectiveness of current channel partners and create plans to grow market share, either within our existing dealer base, or determine other and better alternate ways to go to market.
  • Develop and execute territory and account plans to build loyal channel partners, builders, architects and designers. Items to be reviewed on a monthly basis
  • Provide itinerary/schedule on a monthly basis along with weekly updates of key objectives and action items (Logged and submitted to Sales Manager)
  • Utilize the company’s CRM on a daily basis for documenting activities and follow up
  • Talk to and work with customers/channel partners by phone, email, in-person, or virtually concerning new projects, product questions/recommendations, and other ways we can support them
  • Conduct product trainings and refill literature at dealer locations consistently. Attend vendor shows, set up visitations to Upstate facility regularly
  • Perform job site visits to meet builders and engage them with our product
  • Create strong brand presence amongst architectural community by conducting doing product trainings, AIA presentations, perform architectural blitzes, and ultimately have architect regularly spec our product for all of our product lines
  • Recommend action items and deliverables to Upstate Door management based on conversation with customer base and end users as well as from experience in the field
  • Collaborate with inside sales and engineering team to reach initiatives and follow up on existing quotes and ongoing revisions
  • Work with key contacts including dealers, builders, remodelers, general contractors, architects and designers to effectively provide clear and valuable communication on projects, services, and market offerings for Upstate Door.
  • Assist in the development of new sales programs and processes
  • Regularly communicate strategic and tactical information to sales leadership regarding competitors in assigned territory and region
  • Promote and coordinate regional training within the territory, as well as factory tours and training held at corporate head quarters (when available)
  • Represent Upstate Door at assigned trade and consumer shows
  • Manage the job role’s expense budget
  • Frequent travel throughout the assigned territory, which will require overnight stays as needed; valid driver’s license is required

Key Accountabilities:

  • Reach agreed upon sales revenue for area
  • Minimum of 25 appointments per week
  • 75% of time spent on Business Development (Working with Builders and Architects)
  • 25% of time spent on Account Management (Working with our Building Materials Channel Partners)
  • Conduct meetings with DIs within builders leading to scheduling product briefs, sharing our new developments, and identifying opportunities/discussing existing projects
  • Conduct meetings with DIs within architects leading to scheduling/conducting AIA trainings, product briefs, developments, and opportunities
  • Conduct meetings with DIs within millwork companies leading to scheduling product briefs, sharing our new developments, and identifying opportunities/discussing existing projects
  • Conduct management calls with dealers
  • Conduct trainings on Paradigm with existing dealers
  • Participate in ride along meetings with dealer salespeople – existing relationship (per meeting)
  • Conduct management meetings with PMs at GCs
  • Based on the Sales Differentiation Playbook, develop a cheat sheet for meetings with dealers, architects, and builders
  • Host AIA Trainings for Architects (36)
  • Host Product and Sales Training to key accounts
  • Overnight travel as needed (to accommodate trips to manufacturing facility for tours or other customer engagements)

 

Requirements:

Business Systems Specialist

Part Time Truck Driver

We’re looking for someone to deliver custom wood doors to customers located primarily throughout the East Coast. Must have clean driver’s license, strong organizational skills, attention to detail, & pass DOT physical/drug test. Must provide exceptional customer service, lift 50 lbs repeatedly, & 1+ years experience in driving truck.

Trips vary depending on customer demand. Compensation is based per trip. $500 for a 2 day trip, and $625 for a 3 day trip. Trips are always at least 2 days/1 night (ie: leave Tues morning, return Wed evening).

Production Worker

Skills/Capabilities:

  • Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination
  • Able to work in fast paced environment
  • Able to work on your feet all day
  • Must be able to lift at least 50lbs
  • Maintain good workstation housekeeping

Physical Demands: Must be able to lift/carry materials up to 50lbs, move about the production facility, turn on and operate a computer or tablet, communicate efficiently on the telephone or in person. Exposed to noise and dust in manufacturing plant and warehouse environment. Requires prolonged periods of standing and walking. Subject to long, irregular hours.

Inside Sales Estimator

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Communicate with inside sales to provide timely, accurate competitive pricing on all requests for quotations
  • Talk to and work with customers concerning quotes and orders
  • Handle all customers in a professional manner and provide solutions to issues that arise and recommend changes to process if required


Communication

  • Provide exceptional support to both external and internal customers
  • Communicate issues and concerns to supervisor in timely and professional manner

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 year degree is required and 4 year degree is preferred

CNC Operator

Duties:

· Performs all tasks in a safe and responsible manner.

· Reads and interprets blueprints.

· Understand tolerancing.

· Uses gauges and measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.

· Properly and safely replace inserts and materials onto machines.

· Performs daily and regular cleaning and light maintenance tasks on machinery and equipment.

· Complies with all quality policies, specifications, regulations and instructions.

· Perform first piece inspection on simple geometry.

· Clear chips from parts during operation stops.

· Identify part defects and alert supervisor.

· Understand tool wear and when to change tooling.

· Position may include other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or management

· Set up and operate for basic parts.

· Transfer programs from the shop computer to the machine and to the shop computer from machine.

· General understanding of speeds and feeds of the cutting tool.

· Properly and safely selects, aligns, secures and removes holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories and materials onto machines.

· Recognizes, deploys and properly uses inserts, fixtures and tooling.

Qualifications:

· Read, interpret blue prints, and produce parts in accordance to prints

· Woodworking experience is a plus but not required.

· Uses measuring instruments to meet tolerance requirements.

· Operating CNC Router machines

· Understand tolerancing.

· Self-motivated individual

· CNC Router experience (1 years+) required including setups.

· Preferred experience Fanuc controllers but not required.

· Problem-solving & trouble shooting skills

· Ability to adapt to updated shop processes and available tooling

AutoCAD Drafter

Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Create highly detailed drawings to finalize Sales orders of our high end custom wood doors
  • Drawings are to be utilized for customers as well as Engineering and shop floor
  • Act as a design consultant for sales team and our customer base (Architects & Builders)


Communication

  • Heavy interaction with Sales reps, Engineering Support and Production members to solve daily problems
  • Provide exceptional support to both external and internal customers
  • Communicate issues and concerns to Manager in timely and professional manner


Success Metrics

  • Drawing Turnaround time
  • Accuracy of drawings
  • Proven track record of working through very complex designs
  • Ability to formalize new drafter processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 year degree in a technical field, a 4 year degree is preferred
  • Experience in Autodesk AutoCAD (required)
  • Experience in Autodesk Inventor (preferred, but not required)
  • 1-3 years of Drafting experience (preferred, but not required)
  • Experience in Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong mathematical skills
  • Experience in woodworking industry is preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and independently.

Internship Program

Upstate Door offers a semester-long Internship Program available to students enrolled in a 2-4 year program.

Sales/Marketing Intern

  • Event planning and assistance with plant tours, AIA trainings and more!
  • New Customer Development utilizing CRM tools and software
  • Learn the business to business sales process- from quote to order acknowledgment by working directly with Inside Sales Team
  • Collaborate with and assist Outside Sales Team with their day-to-day efforts
  • Work alongside Marketing team- assemble marketing materials for use by sales team and customer base, update existing customer information to assist in marketing campaign reach
  • Assist in market analysis and research

Accounting Intern

  • Assist with Accounts Payable recording- entering invoices into software, reviewing and discounting invoices, posting batches and cutting checks
  • Input Highway Use Tax Logs into excel to determine New York mileage
  • Assist with expense reporting/petty cash and recording payments
  • Recording credit card payments received
  • Input credit applications into Access database and filing Credit Reference Requests for potential new customers
  • Assist HR department with payroll/attendance utilizing Attendance Enterprise
  • Work with Sage accounting software and Seradex ERP software

Drafting Intern

  • Translate technical specifications given by customers into technical AutoCAD drawings for use by the Production Team
  • Learn about the product and collaborate with other team members throughout the Sales, Engineering and Production Departments
  • Translate field-produced templates into drawing files
